Background

“Design is not just what it looks like or feels like, but how it works” - Steve Jobs. With a background as both an Instructional Designer and Online Instructor and Instructor Tutor at a California Community College, this daily work allows me to understand the need for function as well as form in online instruction within Canvas' Learning Management System. Utilizing skills learned from the Online Special Expertise course that concentrates on developing effective online courses based on the California Online Education Initiative, I focus on content presentation, assuring accessibility, inclusivity and language-based design aspects are included as well as  regular and substantive interaction between the course Instructor and students.

My experience also includes teaching language in public schools, grades PreK-12 in schools in both New York and California and working as Instructor Tutor in the Tutorial Center which includes 1:1 sessions with the varied student population at the college including visually impaired and non-speaking/limited speaking students. Overall, I am interested in creative thinking and creative problem-solving as well as love to work in collaboration with others and provide resources to those who need them. Throughout my teaching experience in public schools, teaching PreK-12 students in New York as well as California.
