Background

With a background as both an Instructional Designer, Online Instructor and Online Instructor Tutor at a California Community Junior College, this work allows me to understand the need for structure, function, and interaction in online instruction. I obtained a Masters in Second Language Learning and worked with language learners in grades PreK-12 in New York and California schools. My educational experience also includes working at a Tutorial Center which includes 1:1 sessions with a varied student population-those who are visually impaired, non-speaking/limited speaking students as well as second language learners. I have always incorporated technology into learning when possible and appreciate the tools that make online accessibility for all possible.

Instructional Design Focus

I am interested in creative thinking and creative problem-solving; my overall focus includes content presentation, assuring accessibility, inclusivity and language-based design aspects based on the educational area the work is being focused on and the learning management system's external apps or LTI. Past project focus work I've done includes concentration with Regular and Substantive Interaction (RSI), online courses that ensure Online Readiness, courses that support learning for Adult Education computer and curriculum planning for daycare programs, and GED/HiSET prep courses. I also studied Project Management and Entrepreneurial Innovation and therefore very much value the iterative design process and agile approach, including project planning charts and scope, work breakdown structures, evaluation, and the collaboration of efficient teams. I believe efforts that use these approaches can have such a positive and sustainable effect for others. I am excited to work with those who utilize these concepts to create beneficial effects through a design that instructs getting people what they need.
