John Schelling
John started playing classical flute at 19 and musician friends soon encouraged him to start playing jazz in bands. After playing flute for a few years, he started learning to play other instruments, including alto sax, tenor sax, drums, piano, electric bass, and finally upright bass, which he has played for the last 20 years. Along the way, he played in blues bands, classic rock bands, original rock bands, and jazz combos. His favorite bass players include Ray Brown, Marcus Miller, and Jaco Pastorius.
